Branding a Yoga Guru
Cathy Underwood
Cathy is an experienced yoga instructor, specialising in Intensive Movement Yoga Therapy (IMYT) to serve those with Special Education Needs.
She holds regular yoga classes from her home in her garden shed which she has aptly named ‘Om Shedi’. It’s a warm, zen-like space, filled with colourful cushions and other decorations that inspired her brand colours. Additionally, Cathy hosts yearly retreats for her students.
What’s in the mark
The icon is based on a rolled up

Deconstructing the mark
The deconstructed graphic was designed to use with the Inclusive Movement Therapy part of the business. Different elements can be used to create interesting shapes and graphical elements.

Alternative logos
The CU Yoga mark has since expanded to incorporate other elements in the brand.
At the beginning of the rebranding journey, and whilst writing the brand guidelines for the business, I encouraged Cathy to think big and wondered if she could offer merchandise to her Warriors – a name she fondly calls all her Yogis. Tshirts? Yoga mats? Well I’m pleased to say that she definitely took this on board and got some branded tees and bags made. And she sold out! Go Cathy!

What the client said
Kareen is an excellent designer who I highly recommend. Kareen has worked with me on my brand identity for a number of years and I really wouldn’t use anyone else. Her ability to tap into the creative message of a business and then design beautiful bespoke images and designs is a gift. If you want to stand out in your marketing material then Kareen is your go to designer.
