The Windrush Manifesto aims to address the unbalance and injustice of the Home Office Scandal (aka The Windrush Scandal) when it comes to the Windrush Generation. The document contains facts, figures and statistics on how many people have been helped by the compensation scheme, but more importantly, those that have not.
The first hand experiences, parliamentary consultation and a survey of over 1,200 people form the basis for the contents of this document.
The colour used throughout is part of Action for Race Equality’s branding. Shades of gentle green with a hint of ochre belie the seriousness of the content which is very sombre and hard-hitting. Sadly, some of the Windrush Generation have been ejected from the British shores for not having the correct documentation (even though this is the only home that many of them have known) from 2018 and are still awaiting compensation.
The brochure was accompanied by a single page A3 summary document listing the main findings.

With a tight time-frame, Kareen jumped straight into it, creating the Manifesto, as well as an additional explainer, that was eye-catching, innovative and professional, even whilst various things were still in-progress on our end. She was sensitive to the project, making suggestions to improve our document, and accommodated our requests for changes whilst understanding the wider picture of the impact we wanted to have.
